Our Story

A neighbourhood restaurant,
for the neighbourhood.

Created by the team behind Uva Livre, Pomar grew from years spent immersed in wine, culture and craft. Rooted in a belief that place and produce matter, the team began to ask what that same care and curiosity might look like on a plate.

Sitting on the corner of Rua Poço dos Negros and Calçada do Combro, Pomar belongs to its surroundings, the energy of the square, the passage of tram 28 and the Pombaline architecture that defines this part of the city. It’s a neighbourhood that the team is inspired by and one that lives in the food as much as in the walls.

Pomar translates to “orchard,” reflecting the team's focus on seasonal produce, careful cultivation and an understanding that the best things take time. That idea guides the kitchen, where the menu evolves with what's available and plates are crafted with care.

Dishes are rooted in Iberian and Atlantic cuisine, shaped by land and coast. Vegetables, seafood and carefully sourced meats are cooked simply, allowing each ingredient to speak for itself. The menu is built around the people at the table, whether that means a leisurely lunch or plates passed between friends.

Wine is the thread of Pomar's creation. Our list focuses on Portuguese producers, wines rooted in place and made without interference, chosen to sit naturally alongside the food and evolve with it.
